Art
Art and Design is fully inclusive to every child and forms part of the broad and balanced curriculum we offer at Thorntree Academy. We aim to give all children the opportunity to learn about a variety of artists from the UK and around the world and to develop their own skills and knowledge of art techniques through an 'input', 'imitate' and 'innovate' lesson approach. Children participate in a variety of experiences such as drawing, painting, 3D sculpture, collage, printing and photography and through these activities, learn about the main elements of art such as colour, texture, line, shape, form, value and space. We place great focus on drawing and painting as a means of inspiring our children to want to be future artists.
Thorntree Academy intends to promote the British Values of respecting diversity and other cultures. Our Art curriculum is designed to celebrate the work of artists from across the globe, as well as having a focus on British artists to inspire the learners to create artwork that expresses who they are as individuals.
