MFL Intent

At Thorntree Academy, we study French as a modern foreign language. Our intention is to foster a healthy, open curiosity in our students for a language and culture of a country other than their own. Inherent in this, they will be able to communicate effectively in another language; understand and appreciate the diversity in our world, responding appropriately as knowledge and understanding of another culture is revealed. Through this liberation, curiosity, understanding and a raised awareness of their own place in the world can, in turn, embed a more tolerant and resilient attitude in their own lives. We want our children to see the opportunities knowing a second language can bring to their future careers.
